June 17. We have removed all the disk levelers and are now at the point where we are starting to rebuild the packers. All new wheel bearings & seals for all the packers (56) and front casters (12). New pivot pins for the walking beams (28) and pivot wear pads (56).

The rebuild also consisted of replacing all the hoses, new wing pivot pins, new secondary towers, and removal of shims under the shanks of openers that ran in the tracks of the 4WD that used to pull the tool.

The cart also received some attention. The cart monitor needed attention. We changed most of the sensor cables, cleaned the ends and sealed them with dielectric grease. We also redid the seals on the metering boxes. The electronics look like they may work, but I am skeptical. We also wired in provisions for a manual override on the clutch, in case the Agtron monitors prove to be troublesome.

The corner of this field is terrible gumbo. Old saying goes; "There is a half hour per year that seeding conditions are right here, and it normally happens during the time you are eating lunch." Wouldn't you know it, there is also a window in the early fall -- about nine months before it is time to seed.
